A construction worker suffered serious injuries, and two drivers were also hurt in an early Wednesday morning crash on the Ohio Turnpike in Wood County, as reported by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Swanton Post. The incident, which involved a collision between a pickup truck and a semi-tractor trailer, occurred at approximately 1:36 a.m. on October 14. The crash took place in the westbound lanes of the turnpike, specifically near the interchange with Interstate 280, in Lake Township, Ohio.

The individual who sustained serious injuries was identified by authorities as Isaiah Roark, 29, of Parma. Roark, a construction worker, was transported by ambulance from the scene to Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment of his severe injuries. Two drivers involved in the multi-vehicle incident also required medical attention. Johnathan Tefft, 23, of Bowling Green, who was driving a Chevrolet Silverado, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was taken by ambulance to ProMedica Bay Park Hospital. The second driver, William Manning, 35, of Bedford, was operating a Volvo tractor-trailer. Manning also sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center, the same facility as Roark.

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Swanton Post, the chain of events began when Tefft's Chevrolet Silverado was in the process of entering a traffic lane. The Silverado was reportedly maneuvering from an active work zone on the turnpike. As Tefft's vehicle was entering the traffic lane, it was struck by the Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Manning. Following this initial impact between the two vehicles, both the Chevrolet Silverado and the Volvo tractor-trailer subsequently entered the active work area. It was within this designated active work zone that both vehicles ultimately struck Isaiah Roark, the 29-year-old construction worker. The details of the preliminary investigation shed light on the circumstances leading to the injuries sustained by all three individuals.

A range of local emergency and support services responded to the scene to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol with the aftermath of the crash. Responders included the Lake Township Fire Department, which provided assistance, alongside Troy Township EMS for medical transport needs. The Northwood Fire Department also lent its support, contributing to the coordinated response. Furthermore, the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission was on site, indicating the nature of the incident on the major roadway. Joey’s Towing was also called to the scene to manage the involved vehicles. The collaborative effort from these various agencies was crucial in addressing the serious incident that unfolded on the Ohio Turnpike in Lake Township, Wood County, early Wednesday morning.
