Area high school sports teams showcased their athletic talents this week, with Shawnee Girls Tennis securing a dominant sweep, and numerous teams in boys and girls soccer and volleyball recording strong individual and team statistics.
Shawnee's girls tennis team delivered a decisive victory over Findlay, winning all five matches. In first singles, Lila Brennan of Shawnee defeated Amelia Stamper of Findlay with a score of 6-0, 6-0. Alivia Mack, representing Shawnee in second singles, also achieved a strong win against Willow Wetzel of Findlay, 6-2, 6-0. The third singles match saw Riya Naroor of Shawnee triumph over Rosalynn Mayle of Findlay in a closely contested match, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6. Shawnee continued its dominance in doubles play, with the first doubles team of Panchal and Cox defeating Indupuru and Smith of Findlay 6-0, 6-1. In second doubles, Fuller and Smith of Shawnee secured a win against Williams and Perkins of Findlay, 6-2, 6-3.
On the soccer fields, several boys' teams saw their players make key contributions. For Shawnee, Brady Heitmeyer, Landon Meas, and Carter Feison were among the goal scorers. St. Marys also had multiple players find the back of the net, including Jackson Green, Reid Kantner, Braden Wilker, Rowan Verbryke, and Colten Spray. Bluffton's offensive efforts were led by Connor Core, who scored two goals, along with goals from Niah Horn and Jacob Duvall. Elida's goal scorers included Hunter Lawson, who netted two goals, and Clay Knight.
Girls' soccer teams also featured standout offensive performances. Ottoville's attack was potent, with Karlee Horstman scoring three goals, Kate Turnwald adding two goals, and Annabelle Buss contributing two goals. Cassidy Deitering and Ella Crossgrove also scored for Ottoville. For Ada, Blaney Huffman led the scoring with two goals, supported by goals from Violet Frey and Daylin Bosco.
In volleyball, numerous local teams posted impressive statistical outings. For Leipsic, Alyssa Campbell recorded 15 kills, while Kya Brandt contributed 13 kills and 20 digs. Ryleigh Newell was a key playmaker with 37 assists and 10 digs, and Jaelynn Siefer led the defense with 28 digs. Willa Siefer also added 14 digs.
New Bremen's team saw strong performances from Maria Kramer with 15 kills, and Ashtyn Eilerman, who had 12 kills, 8 digs, and 5 aces. Maeve Eilerman added 9 kills. Setters Charlotte Nelson and Julia Tangeman recorded 25 assists and 13 assists, respectively, with Nelson also contributing 9 digs. Annie Lefeld had 9 digs, and Diana Heitkamp secured 4 blocks. Shawnee's offensive effort was led by Gianna Upshaw with 24 kills, supported by Cadence Wilson with 10 kills and 4 blocks, and Josie Hutchins with 8 kills and 12 digs.
Allen East's Aleena Nickles recorded 13 kills, with Olivia Jones contributing 15 assists and Madi Shilling securing 19 digs. Lincolnview's Kara Suever was a versatile performer with 12 kills, 15 digs, and 4 blocks. Brooklyn Byrne added 6 kills and 8 digs. Makynlee Dickinson had 25 assists, 4 blocks, and 3 aces. Joey-Kate Carey contributed 12 digs, and Annabel Horstman had 6 blocks.
Bluffton's Karlie Lora led with 17 kills, while Adrian Birnesser provided 15 assists. Gracie Warren recorded 10 digs, and Taylin Goldman contributed 8 digs and 3 aces. Columbus Grove's Lydia Sarka had 9 kills and 7 digs. Terra Kohli added 7 kills and 3 blocks. Hadley Bonifas posted 14 assists and 4 aces, and Charlotte Teders had 12 assists and 5 aces.
Crestview saw Kaci Gregory lead with 15 kills and 7 digs. Kaylee Owens contributed 8 kills, and Ayla Kreischer had 6 kills and 10 digs. Setters Nora Perkins and Kenadie Schwartz recorded 17 assists and 13 assists (with 7 digs), respectively. Defensively, Alecta Baxter secured 4 blocks, and Delanie Baillet served 3 aces.
Hardin Northern's Kendall Frank achieved a career milestone, recording her 200th career ace in a match where she also had 25 assists and 4 aces. Addy Bacon and Baylie Bacon each contributed 11 kills, with Addy also adding 9 aces. Viv Overs had 9 digs and 2 aces. Miller City's offensive output included Gemma Otto with 11 kills and 3 blocks, Quincy Moenter with 9 kills and 2 aces, Ava Reichley with 6 kills and 14 digs, and Addison Niese with 6 kills. Setters Payton Michel and Sophia Ruck had 23 assists and 9 assists, respectively. Madisyn Schroeder contributed 9 digs.
Ottoville's Kendall Schnipke delivered 18 kills and 15 digs, while Vanessa Hilvers added 13 kills. Briley Wertenberger had 23 assists and 12 digs, and Jenna Suever provided 17 assists. Brooklyn Koester recorded 11 digs. For Pandora-Gilboa, Laira Perkins had 6 kills and 9 digs. Jayda Schnipke contributed 9 assists, and Emma Mangas and Kylie Teders each added 9 digs.
In an additional volleyball contest, a five-set match concluded with set scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-13, 19-25, and 15-9.
