Gias Foods Inc. has initiated the recall for two specific lots of its Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine.
The affected product is sold in 22-ounce frozen packages, identifiable by their yellow plastic packaging under Walmart's Bettergoods brand. Consumers should check for UPC number 194346442706 on the packaging. The specific lot numbers subject to the recall are L6079C or L6080C. These packages also bear expiration dates of Sept. 19, 2027, or Sept. 20, 2027, stamped on the back. Both the FDA and Walmart’s recall information confirm that the recalled fettuccine was distributed to Walmart locations across the country.
The potential contamination issue was discovered through routine sampling. This testing was conducted by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Testing indicated that the finished pasta product might contain *Listeria monocytogenes*, a bacterium known to cause serious illness. As of the latest FDA notice, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled pasta. The FDA states that an investigation into the cause of the potential contamination is ongoing, and Gias Foods has ceased distributing the affected product while the investigation proceeds.
Listeria infections, known as listeriosis, can pose significant health risks, especially for certain vulnerable populations.
