Joseph Mohr, a 50-year-old Ohio City resident, was taken into custody on Tuesday and now faces a first-degree felony charge for cocaine possession. The arrest followed the execution of a search warrant at a residence located in the 500 block of West Jefferson Street, as confirmed by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office.
The search warrant was served by a multi-agency effort, involving members of both the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force and the FBI Northwest Ohio Safe Streets Task Force. These specialized units collaboratively carried out the operation at the specified Ohio City home.
During the execution of the warrant, two individuals were present at the property. Deputies from the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office identified both people, and after this process, one person was subsequently released from the scene. The sheriff's office did not release further details about the second individual present.
Investigators involved in the operation recovered what the sheriff’s office described as a "moderate amount of suspected cocaine" from the property. In addition to the narcotics, a quantity of cash was also seized by authorities during the search. These items were taken as evidence in connection with the ongoing investigation.
Following his arrest, Mr. Mohr was transported to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility. He is currently being held there, awaiting his arraignment. That court appearance is scheduled for Thursday in Van Wert Municipal Court, where official charges will be presented before a judge.
